tulsamedicalBasically, a viral infection is caused by a virus, and a bacterial infection is caused by a bacteria.

A viral infection, contrary to what you might believe, is not treated with an antibiotic.  I found out while sitting in a clinic lobby today that many people don’t know that simple fact.  Many people are going to the clinic demanding antibiotics for a bad cold and it just won’t do you any good.

Bronchitis and most upper respiratory infections are viral.  Bacteria usually causes sinusitis and pharyngitis, and pneumonia is usually bacterial but sometimes viral.

Web MD and Mayo Clinic sites have many answers regarding health problems that you may find interesting.
