Using a PIKEPASS from Tulsa to …
I’ve heard some people say they love the PIKEPASS and others say it’s a pain. With the new increase (they say about 16%) in toll rates on all of Oklahoma’s turnpikes going into effect on August 4, 2009, I decided I should take a look into the pass system for myself. See if it could save me money.
Let me start by saying the PIKEPASS is simply a small tag that sits on the inside of your front windshield. You can drive right through the toll collection plaza and have the charge electronically posted to the account you have set up. It seems easy and is slightly cheaper. I think their site says about 5% cheaper (and an additional 5% if you have 20 or more transactions a month).
Last Thursday I mentioned two of the three ways to apply for a PIKEPASS. Let me review all three of them now. Remember you need a valid driver’s license, a valid credit or debit card, and the license plate number from your car when it’s time for you to get going.
-
You can apply online.
-
You can have an application mailed or faxed to you by calling 1-800-PIKEPASS.
-
You can apply in person at one of their store locations.
I think it is going to be worth my time to get one ordered. I hope you find it’s worth yours.
